Northern lights photography adventures in Arctic Norway

Our small-group photography tours in Arctic Norway are crafted for those driven by a love of adventure and a deep fascination with the Northern Lights.

Seasons of light in the Arctic

Led by an experienced professional photographer and Northern Lights guide, this small-group tour runs from early September to late March. Each season offers its own distinct character — from golden autumn light to the icy blue tones of deep winter.

Exploring wild Arctic landscapes

With a relaxed pace and a spirit of adventure, we explore Norway’s wild Arctic landscapes in the best light possible. You'll travel in a small group, allowing for flexibility, local insight, and time to slow down and connect with your surroundings.

Handpicked locations for photography

Along the way, we visit dramatic fjords, frozen beaches, colourful fishing villages, and the tucked-away hamlets of Lofoten and Vesterålen. Every location is chosen for its photographic potential, whether it’s wide open views or quiet, hidden details.

Chasing the Northern Lights

As daylight fades, the Arctic sky comes alive. With your Aurora guide leading the way, we track and photograph the Northern Lights. Whether it's a soft glow above the mountains or a vivid curtain of green across the sea, we’ll be there — ready to capture the moment.

Personalised guidance and learning

Throughout the journey, you'll receive personalised guidance tailored to your experience level. Whether you're just starting out or more advanced, you'll build skills and a portfolio you’re proud of.

More than a photography tour

But this is more than a photography tour. It’s a shared adventure, built on meaningful experiences, lasting memories, and the quiet magic of the far north.

Learn at your own pace

Joining us on this photography tour is all about relaxed, personalised learning.
There’s no pressure and definitely no one-size-fits-all approach — just the freedom to grow your skills in a supportive, flexible, and creative environment. Whether you’re curious about camera settings, composition, or post-processing techniques, I encourage you to ask as many questions as you like. This is your time to explore, and I’m here to help you make the most of it.

Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or looking to stretch your creative boundaries, I’ll tailor my guidance to suit your level. That might mean mastering exposure bracketing for challenging light, using long exposures to create atmosphere and movement, or sharpening your eye for composition and storytelling. I’ll be right there in the field, reviewing your shots, offering constructive feedback, and sharing practical tips — from nailing your focus to getting the best out of your filters.

More than anything, I want you to feel confident behind the camera and inspired to discover your own photographic voice. The aim isn’t just to return with stunning images — it’s to feel like those images are truly yours. Discover a few of the key skills we can explore together.

What you'll learn on the tour

Classroom sessions are always secondary to being out in the field—our priority is exploring and shooting outdoors whenever conditions allow. That said, we’ve developed a series of presentations designed to help guests get the very best from the week. When bad weather keeps us inside, learning is tailored to the specific needs of the group, ensuring every trip delivers a unique mix of knowledge and inspiration.
Camera Settings
We’ll start by building a solid foundation. I’ll guide you through shooting in RAW, making the most of Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO, and understanding the various modes on your camera — so you feel confident and fully in control of every shot.
Composition
In landscape photography, composition is key. I’ll share what I look for when framing a scene and help you train your eye to spot strong, thoughtful compositions that tell a story.
Long exposures
When the conditions allow, we’ll experiment with long exposures to create atmospheric, striking images — from silky-smooth water to dynamic skies filled with movement.
Panoramic techniques
Discover how panoramic photography can create stunning ultra-wide images with incredible detail and resolution by seamlessly combining multiple overlapping shots.
Low-light photography
We’ll explore techniques for working in low-light conditions — whether it’s capturing the soft glow of twilight, shooting the night sky, or photographing the Northern Lights (if nature treats us!).
Bracketing & dynamic range
You’ll learn how to bracket exposures for challenging lighting situations, helping you maintain detail across the full dynamic range — no blown highlights or blocked shadows.
Histogram mastery
We’ll break down how to read and use your histogram to expose your images properly and preserve important detail in both shadows and highlights.
Simplifying post-processing
If the weather turns, we’ll shift gears and dive into editing. I’ll walk you through my workflow in Adobe Lightroom Classic or Adobe Bridge and share a few finishing techniques in Photoshop to help your images shine.Throughout the tour, you’ll have my full support — but I won’t hover unless you want me to. My goal is to help you feel confident, creative, and completely at ease behind the camera.
